Baked Cornbread Dressing

Recipe Submitted by cctabb ..|.. Category: Beans, Rice, and Grains

This is a southern type cornbread dressing that is baked instead of used to stuff a turkey.

I use the cornbread recipe on the back of the bag to make the base cornbread.

Ingredients

  • 1 pan of cornbread baked, cooled and crumbled
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove minced garlic (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups of chicken stock
  • 3 eggs

Directions

Spray or grease 9x13 baking pan.
Place crumbled cornbread in large bowl. Set aside
Saut celery, onion, garlic in butter until onion is translucent -about 5 minutes. Add onion mixture to cornbread including butter. Stir in herbs/spices. Add eggs and stock. Pour into baking pan. Bake at 350* for 25 to 30 minutes.
