Oven Porcupines

Recipe Submitted by Rusty ..|.. Category: Beef & Veal

This is a favorite at our house. The sauce is very similar to what you'd
find on stuffed peppers and it's easy on the budget.

Ingredients

  • 2 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped sweet onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3 cans (about 16 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 6 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Cook rice as package directs.
Mix ground beef, cooked rice, onion, salts, garlic powder, pepper and Italian seasoning together. Shape into meatballs. Place meatballs into a Dutch oven (They should not touch each other). Stir together tomato sauce, water, and Worcestershire sauce. This sauce should cover the meatballs. If it doesn't, for every 1 can of tomato sauce, use 1/4 cup of water, and 2 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Pour tomato Worcestershire sauce over meatballs. Cover and bake in a 350 degreeF oven for 1 hour. Serve with mashed potatoes.
