  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced 1/4" thick
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 9 slices day-old french bread

In a small saucepan combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup until thick. Pour into an ungreased 13x9 baking dish, arranging apple slices on top of syrup. In a mixing bowl beat eggs, milk, and vanilla. Dip French bread in egg mixture and arrange over top of apple slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking and uncover. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until the top of the bread is browned.
