Butter Cookies

Recipe Submitted by Melanie ..|.. Category: Cookies

These will keep for a week or two in a tightly covered container.
You can tint the dough with food coloring.
You can dip the bottoms of the finished cookies in chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 4 and 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 and 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; with mixer at low speed, beat until just mixed. Increase speed to medium; beat 2 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl.
Press through cookie press onto ungreased sheet, about 1/2 inch apart. Refrigerate remaining dough. Bake 12 - 15 minutes, until lightly browned around edges.
Immediately remove to wire racks to cool completely. Wash and cool cookie sheets completely between use or cookies will not have a nice shape.
