Tomato Butter

Ingredients

  • 10 cups tomatoes
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions

These are the instructions I received with it.
This takes a long time to make as it sticks easily. Boil hard for 5 minutes stirring constantly then cook on real low heat until thick. Put in jars and seal.
What I really do LOL is
Peel tomatoes and slice them so I can get all the seeds out (seeds kind of bother me but if they don't bother you I guess you could leave them in)
Put the tomatoes in a pot and turn it on medium to medium high on the stove eye. Add the spices and the sugar. I do not cook on low but on a higher heat and just stand there and stir it until it's done. The way to tell if it is done is to stick some on a little saucer and if it 'gels' then it's done. It's more like a jam than a jelly.
