Key Lime Meringue Pie

  • 1 baked pie shell
  • 1- 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 3 fresh eggs, separated
  • 1/2 C lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar


Beat egg yolks; stir in condensed milk and lime juice. Pour into baked shell. Beat egg whites w/cream of tartar and gradually add sugar, beating until stiff but not dry. Spread on pie being careful to seal edges. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown in preheated 350 oven. Cool and chill several hours before serving. Keep in refrigerator.
Can also be topped with a Cool Whip type topping.
