Grandmas Best Cinnamon Rolls

This is an amazing airy dough. With oat flakes!
Not for diets.


  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cups quick oat flakes (I use old fashioned)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • filling:
  • 2 tbsp butter or marg. melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Honey Butter Icing:
  • 1/3 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter or marg. softened NOT melted
  • 2 tbsp honey


Make your dough.

I then roll out and butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and my choice of toppings.

But you can mix together their toppings and spread on top.

Cut into 9 pieces (or as many as you can, about 3/4 inch thick). Place in 8 x 8 pan (or whatever you have).

Allow to rise and double (or half an hour if your in a hurry, stick in the oven with the light on, not the actual oven, just the light).

Bake at 350 for 30 mins. Mix together icing and immediately spread upon just baked buns. Ideally allow to cool then eat. [skip the icing, sprinkle with icing sugar and eat immediately]
